22 Hobbies for Couples Quarantined at Home to Keep Things Interesting

Relationships are a series of moments. You can think of relationships as a partner dance; when you dance with a partner, you might end up somewhere different than where you started. But moving from one point to another is not the goal. Dancing together is the goal. Relationships are similar.

If you focus only on achieving one specific goal and fall short, you’ll be disappointed. As cliche as it may sound, it’s important to focus on the journey of a relationship rather than the destination. You cannot only think of the things that you are going to do as soon as the lockdown ends.

Can you control the past? No. Can you control the future? No. Can you control the present? A big YES.

How to focus on the journey of a relationship?

We all know how we cannot control the past or the future, but what we can do is control the present and live in the moment. It’s about embracing the present, enjoying it, living mindfully, and being aware. One of the best ways to enjoy relationships is to have hobbies for couples at home to strengthen their bond.

Not only hobbies, but fun couple activities too, will help you strengthen the bond. Have you ever considered making a castle out of Amazon boxes? That’s what we are talking about. It’s about enjoying the journey of relationship with hobbies and activities for couples to do at home that will help you get closer no matter how impossible or weird they may sound.

While the whole world is being resilient enough to learn new things and find the silver lining even in these trying times, why remain behind? It’s not to say that it is a couple’s productivity contest but rather it is an opportunity to focus on what we may have neglected for far too long in the past.

Let us help you with some fun and exciting hobbies for couples at home now!

Hobbies for couples at home during Covid-19

Use those boxes you think are useless; build a castle

As kids, we would use literally anything that we found around to create something to play with, out of it. Little did we know that it’s a form of bonding with our friends. If you and your significant other had already built a castle out of sheets and pillows, it’s probably time to construct a castle from those empty delivery boxes you thought are of no use anymore.

How about prank-calling your friends?

If you do not have an ethical quandary with pranks, well, we would highly recommend prank-calling your friends. Pranks are even a great way to bond with your family. How about prank-calling your grandparents? It’d also be great if you can film it and share it on social media with them too.

Draw each other

It could be hot, it could be funny, either way, drawing each other after dressing up or even wearing your pyjamas should be highly entertaining.

Teach what you know, learn what you don’t

Everyone doesn’t have the same skillset. There are so many skills out there to learn and we don’t have to go outside to learn them. The teachers are sitting right at home. So even if it is about sewing, knife skills, creative writing, dancing, or even playing chess, it’s time to become one of those couples who are good at everything but together.

ProTip: Don’t forget to be patient with each other. In such moments, it’s important to remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Whittle, and if you don’t know how to, learn

It is a classic pastime. Chances are neither of you know how to whittle. You can watch YouTube ‘how to’ video. Then, go ahead, order a whittling kit and a grizzled beard online, and make something special for each other using a handcrafted and useless leather apron.

Make mocktails for each other

Most of us right now cannot go out to have elaborate mocktails. So instead of that juice bottle, why not whip up a mocktail. Make one for each other and then ask each other to guess the ingredients that you used. The one who guesses all the ingredients gets to pick the movie that you have to watch together. It’s a win-win or rather eat-watch.

Cook a single-ingredient meal

Take and give a challenge to cook a single-ingredient meal for each other. Pick an ingredient from the fridge and make a meal that has that ingredient as a hero. You may try as simple cuisines as a tomato salad or as strategic as pasta or pizza. You’d have a restaurant meal at home. And not to forget a chance to get closer to each other as you cook together for each other. Yay!

Create Spotify playlists for each other

When we dedicate a song to someone or even just share a song that we have been liking for a while, we tend to express our feelings or show a part of us through the song lyrics and its rhythm. It’d be great if you create a playlist for each other with the songs that you think represent your soul or your emotions towards that person. They’ll get a sneak peek of you.

Plan a themed dinner with a movie or a series

Whenever we see someone eating something in a movie, we feel like eating the same dish too. Why not cook it? Plan a themed dinner with a movie or a series. How about binge-watching The Big Bang Theory and cooking Thai on a Monday?

Try acrobatic couples yoga out

With the pandemic hitting, there are people who are creating top-notch courses to help you keep up with new skills and hobbies. Acrobatic yoga is one of the hottest hobbies for couples to pick. We all know a hot couple that we saw on the beach last year. We saw the man effortlessly balancing a woman on his strong and hot shins. It’s time to experience it too, maybe? So instead of envisioning yourself, maybe it’s time to take a course and grab this chance at you and your lover looking like you have always envisioned to look like.

Write a story and perform it for your friends

Write a story together that you can also perform to. And then perform it for your friends virtually. Or just do it for yourselves and make a video of yourselves goofing around while performing it.

Make pickles

Name a vegetable and it can fit a mason jar. From carrots, lemons, potatoes, to cucumbers, you can pickle all of them. Can’t you? It’s a hell lot of fun.

Choreograph a fashion show for each other

With the pandemic having us locked down, we almost forgot to moisturize, forget about dressing up. And dress up for what? We didn’t have to go out so we became sloth bears. But we forget that even if we are inside our houses we still should not stop loving ourselves for the people who love us and put an effort for them. So wear your best clothes, put on some accessories, and make it interesting. You can also try something interesting by wearing each other’s clothes.

Take up a challenge to stay without talking or looking at each other

We might have been talking to each other a wee bit too much since the lockdown. Maybe it’s time to take up a challenge to stop talking and looking at each other and see for how long you can last. It will burn a lot of time and also make you crave to talk to each other.

Find solace in art and craft

You can anytime just hop on Pinterest and find solace in art and craft. From making ChapStick to soaps and candles to bath bombs, there are infinite possibilities. We all have aspired to use at least one of the crafty tips suggested in the 5-minute crafts videos, haven’t we? They are so cool not to pay attention to.

Make dance part of your everyday life in a different way

Partners can get fairly intimate while learning couples dance. Also, there are some moves that one can incorporate in their lives to make their lives interesting. Dance Incubation is offering a free videos series, where you will learn how to move your body in 3 everyday situations. It’s both fun, and a very different take on how you can actually incorporate dancing in your everyday life without taking classes, spend an extreme amount of time OR even leave your house.

Bake together

Baking is extremely satisfying when two people do it together and wait for the results almost impatiently. You can make your little bakery at home and bake your favourite or your partner’s favourite dessert or just create a new one that you’ve been meaning to try out since long. Now is the time!

Play video games

It’s not okay for your sanity to get lower at this time. But it’s completely fine to get your sanity lower in a video game. Try playing some team horror game or try a new one. Nowadays “Among Us” has been quite a popular game to play. And professional streamers are also after rediscovering old games like Pokémon and many more. You should too!

Start vlogging and posting it on social media

It’s the best time to start a YouTube channel or any social media account and vlog. This way you’ll deliberately and consciously make an effort to try out new things that you can also vlog about. Make sure it is a ‘couple thing’ and so it’ll be fun for both.

Read the same novel

Try and read the same novel and thus give each other a review of the book later on. You will find a new topic to talk about. Discuss everything out of that novel. You can even prepare a quiz for each other and test who really read it meticulously word by word.

read, sunday, bedroom

Have a movie spree instead of a shopping spree

Well, we can’t have a shopping spree out in the world as yet. But we can have a movie spree a.k.a. a movie marathon of a bunch of movies that you both love and binge-watch them at home.

Play board games

Perhaps it’s time to get the chessboard out of the cupboard. Or even try your hands at carrom. You never know which game you are going to get better to play at the office breaks as soon as the lockdown is lifted. Even if that’s not the case, you are going to spend your time doing something great together.

strategy, chess, board game

Learn calligraphy

While a few people out there may not consider calligraphy as a skill worth learning, at the same time, many would agree that writing on paper is already quite therapeutic, so writing calligraphy must be 100 times even better. Learn how to do it together and then write a letter to each other too.

Over to you!

Trust us you are not going to be left with no activities for couples to do at home. In fact, you’ll have some left to do even after the lockdown. So pick some from here, add some, and just start your journey towards a stronger bond. Whether you are a married couple or a senior couple, hobbies for couples from home are important. You will grow as a couple and as individuals too.

Don’t let the boredom overpower you. Embark on this journey of learning about each other and about yourselves too!

Sharing is caring!
